Notes and resources on applying for postbac positions, graduate school, and the NSF GRFP.
I’m passionate about demystifying academia and supporting early-career researchers — I wouldn’t be here today without a few mentors taking a chance on me and sharing their insights. This page collects resources and advice I wish I’d had when I was starting out.
I’m building these out over time. If something here is helpful, or if you have a question I haven’t covered, feel free to reach out.
Postbaccalaureate positions
After finishing my undergraduate degree, I spent two years as a Postbac IRTA fellow at the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) before starting my PhD. Postbac positions are an excellent way to gain research experience, strengthen graduate applications, and figure out whether a research career is right for you.

NSF GRFP
I was awarded the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (GRFP). The application is demanding but learnable, and strong examples and feedback make a real difference.
